Adoption of a Premarin Foal (part 3)

By: Admin

It is now October 21 and I am impatiently waiting the arrival of my filly. I have visited the stable where I will temporally keep her until I return from my trip to Germany. Currently, I am attempting to make up a feeding schedule with amounts included. Shouldn't be such a hard job, but it is. My filly will be going through so many changes from traveling out of Canada to arriving at the pickup point to being moved to her temporary home and then two weeks later to her forever home. That is a lot of changes for a little girl. One good point is the horses have been wormed, so hopefully this will cut down on problems before and when she arrives.

October 23 it has been confirmed the horses are leaving Canada on either October 30 or 31 and should arrive at the drop off point on November 1. I have also received the costs on her transport, coggins and border fees. I still need to make arrangements for the veterinarian, so she can have a check up. This weekend I will pick up her foal feed and gradually introduce her to it. The stable offers feed as part of the board, but I have opted to supply my own feed to get her started and make sure she is on a proper foal diet., and there is no switching feeds after she arrives.

Names? I was thinking about Ruffian, after the 'Super filly ' of the 70's, but I am not sure it is the right fit. Needless to say, I am still looking for name ideas so if anyone has any unique names please submit them to admin@ehorseplace.com

Now it is wait and see. I am waiting for the update that tells me her exact arrival. What an exciting day that will be! I will continue to update once she arrives and how she is doing. Then training, she is untamed and I do not know what her personality is like at this point, but I can't wait to find out!
